So I have now bought a Thermomix, the TM7.
After owning it for half a year now here is my take on it
WHAT I LIKE
-Super easy for baking
-quite convenient if you want to cook something unfamiliar. I have to date managed to cook Sambal nasi lemak , very good ikan belah belakang, mushroom soups, mihun and kuehteow goreng.
- I am also beginning to appreciate not having too many things to wash. Or actually, being able to already clean all the prep dishes by the time cooking ends. because the machine cooks on its own, so you are free to start to clean your kitchen or prepare the table. So by the time you need to serve , whats left is just to leave it to clean itself for final cleaning. Easy peasy.
WHAT I AM STILL LEARNING
-using the blend technique. So far I still am not able to replicate really well like the traditional blender
-cooking using it for my own more difficult recipe
Bottom line - is it worth the price tag?
OK, for me personally.. its no big deal when I compare it like let's say handbag purchases or shoes. Macam kita beli iphone lah. If you could be buying an iphone outright without batting an eye, then I dont see any difference for a TM7.
Do you need it?
If you dont cook often, like me, I'd say not really. You wouldnt miss it from your kitchen. I bought this togther with my friend and she COOKS everyday with her TM7 so she even contemplating to get another one for her kitchen.
Will I keep it?
Yes, because deep down I would like to be able to cook more home-cooked food , varied things and a TM7 would be a good companion for it.
Are the recipes in there really good?
Some yes, some not so. The cooking technique could be different than traditional way so sometimes it doesnt hit home. Passable, but not superb. So in the end kena rajin2 try and when more confident adjust according to your liking.
Sekian.
