Nasi Goreng Kampung

0

You know, I almost forgot I had these photos taken. With so many things to do lately Ive been just snapping photos and Shame On Me - I have not been diligently uploading them.

Anyway, what I found in my camera was few photos taken when I was making Nasi Goreng Kampung - something I rarely make but turned out quite well. So lets share it .

I have to say I am not a big fan of Nasi Goreng. But when I take Nasi Goreng I usually prefer Nasi Goreng Kampung. And when i was making this, I actually had been thinking about it for a few days.

So one fine day, as so not to make myself kempunan, I decided to scrap things to make it.

For Nasi Goreng Kampung, you dont really need much.

Basically you need :
  • Rice
  • Ikan Bilis
  • Bawang merah
  • Bawang putih
  • Belacan
  • Chicken (cut in very small pieces)
  • Sayur (usually Kangkung)
I was told that the best rice to make Nasi Goreng is the rice that has been left overnight. I dont know how true that is, but basically the rice should not be sticky otherwise you'll get clumps. Btw this is about 1.5 cups of rice

Ikan Bilis, peeled

If you like spicy, then go crazy on the bird chillies. Otherwise about 15 pieces is enough.

A bit of belacan - Bakar first

Then tumbuk altogether :
Bawang putih, Bawang Merah, a bit of ikan bilis, belacan, cilipadi.
(dont need to be pounded fine. Coarsely like below will do)

WHen all your ingredients are done, lets start the cookin.

Heat about this much oil.

Fry the Ikan bilis. Once its browning (up to you how crunchy you like it, for me I like it crispy), take it out and put aside

With the same oil, sautee the things we pounded.

Add the chicken pieces. I think prawns will also substitute nicely

Once its a browning, put in the rice. Keep stirring to mix it well. Once it mixes well, put in the kangkung, and some of the fried ikan bilis. Keep turning until the kangkung and rice looks well cooked like below

Thats it. I usually like to put lots and lots of ikan bilis. Yum.

bon appétit!

Sausage in Breadroll

0

Darn those lil bratz, each time I watch Junior Masterchef I feel hungry - not just for food , but hungry to cook.

Yeah sounds far-fetched kan, but seriously, I dont know why after I watched the show mesti rasa berkobar-kobar nak make something.

So last night when watching one of the re-runs I made Sausage in a rolling bread.

Before you get ideas thinking that I was so inspired that I managed to think of creative ideas like this, no, I am not that creative, I actually had something like this served to me on FLNG project breakfast. Of course mine didnt turn out exactly the same, but bolehla.. kalau dalam exam boleh dapat 70 over 100 la kot...

Anyway. Shame on me, I didnt snap photos of 'the making of great sausage in rolling bread' so I'll try my very best to describe as detail as I can.

What you will need is just those little sausages, bread (loafs), eggs and salt.

1. Beat the eggs and add a bit of salt

2. Put in the bread (soak on one side only)

3. Put the sausage in the bread and roll it over

4. Lightly grease a flat pan on low fire

5. Put the rolled bread on the pan , with the joined part of the roll at the bottom. This is to seal the bread so that it doesnt fall apart.

6. Then slowly just cook the other parts of the bread until all cooked

I think the one I had at the breakfast thingy was not made with eggs, but I dont know what else would bind the roll together so if you have any other ideas, please share it with me.

anyhow, this is how it turned out (ignore the rolled eggs next to it, dah terlebih so I just made a roll).

Treat to myself

0

Its been a while since I treated myself to some goody.

I have been deliberating on this one, knowing that the hefty price I pay sometimes may not get me what I wanted.

I am talking about getting me a new set of earphones to replace the battered, sad looking standard ipod earphones of mine.

See what I mean?? Ganas sungguhlah saya :P

Anyway, so I have been looking around online, reading reviews here and there to find me one.

But buying earphones are like buying food. One person's honey can be another person's poison. I cant 100% rely on the reviews I read. We all have different taste in music and we all have different preferences in sound.

What made it hard is that most places I went to wont allow me to listen to the earphones unless I paid for it already. I am sure most of you experimented the same. But fret not - luckily I stumbled upon this forum - headjam.org which is a forum site initiated by Jaben Audio.

Jaben Audio started by selling their goods through online forums and websites, and now they actually have a store (shop) set up in SS15 Subang. The full addy is 65A Jalan SS15/8a, SS15 Subang Jaya. Its just right opposite Asia Cafe, same row as Stackbucks.

For those who are thinking about getting yourselves new sets of phones, I highly recommend you hop in there for a visit. They carry a good range/variety and allow you to try them out. Their service is really friendly and superb, and pricewise is also competitive. Cant find a fault here.

I was there and have tested a few .. Sennheiser CX300-II.. Denon 560..Shure... Hippo and few others. In the end the Klipsch S4 won me over, hands down. I actually quite like the way sennheiser fits into my ears, but their mid too much for my liking. I tested with a few range of songs and Klipsch has the best balance.

Of course it can be a pain to insert in and out - especially with my scarf on but what the heck, I think I prefer good sound more than anything.

Btw I also learnt that they have these headphone amplifiers, which is a great thing to have when you are in noisy area. It surely bumped up the sound a notch or two making you loose all those noisy backgound without having to turn up your vol to the max. Ken gave me one as complimentary since he cant knock down few more $$ of the Klipsch for me.

Its a FiiO, of course it kinda reduces the fine sound you are getting if you were connecting direct with your earphones but its expected, given that its a cheapo amp. We'll see .. if I like it enuff maybe I'll splurge for a good one.

All in good time. :)

That thing that puts a smile on me face.... ahaks.

The box. The package comes with 3 sets of buds, the ephones of course, and a hard case

The amp

(excuse the terrible quality of photos malas nak bertukar2 lens)
